The IFSC European Cup Series 2025 is underway, launching its first Boulder competition of the year in Munich, Germany. The Olympiapark,a venue steeped in climbing history,is hosting the event,having previously welcomed nine IFSC World Cups between 2010 and 2019.

Elite Climbers Converge for Season Opener
This year’s season opener features a diverse mix of seasoned European athletes and emerging talents. Over 160 participants from 32 nations are competing. Among the notable climbers in the men’s event are Samuel Richard of France, the Boulder gold medalist at last year’s Youth European championships in Troyes, France, and Michael Piccolruaz of Italy, a Tokyo 2020 Olympian.
The women’s event is equally competitive. Austria’s national champion, Lea Kempft, is headlining the field, which also includes Martina Burisikova of Slovakia, the “gold medallist from last year’s closing European Cup in Genova, Italy.”
The German home team boasts 16 athletes, including Thorben Perry Bloem, a silver medalist in Genova; Anna Maria apel, a young talent and Boulder bronze medalist at the IFSC Youth World Championships Guyang 2024; and Lucia Dörffel, a Paris 2024 olympian.
