European Cyclocross Championships: Bentveld Dominates Women’s Under-23 Race
Dutch Rider Puck bentveld Wins European Cyclocross Title
puck Bentveld (Netherlands) dominated the European Cyclocross Championships in Middelkerke, winning by over a minute. She was a strong favorite alongside reigning champion Célia Gery (France), but showcased superior form and skill, notably in the sand.
Gery, who recently won the women’s under-23 road world title in Kigali, finished second, 1:13 behind Bentveld. Her French teammate, Amandine Muller, completed the podium in third place.
Bentveld established a notable lead early in the race, quickly distancing herself from Gery.She maintained a relentless pace, consistently completing laps under nine minutes, and ultimately won as a runaway leader. Belgian Shanyl De Schoesitter briefly joined Gery in a chase group, but Bentveld’s lead continued to grow throughout the race.
