A Berlin-based startup, Nox, ⁢is aiming to revolutionize European night train travel. The company announced plans to launch overnight rail ⁤connections between major European cities by 2027. Passengers can expect private cabins at prices comparable to air travel.

Nox intends to ‍serve more ⁢than 100 ‍cities across 35 ‍routes‍ within⁤ a decade. Destinations include Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Paris,⁢ Rome,⁢ and Barcelona.

Nox plans to distinguish itself‌ by building a new ‍fleet of trains featuring one- and ⁤two-person ‌sleeper compartments. thibault Constant, co-founder‍ of nox, said the goal is to make night trains an essential part of European travel by offering⁢ agreeable, private accommodations at competitive prices.

According to the company, passenger cabins will feature 2-meter-long beds, separate seats with tables, and ample space⁤ for ‍standing and luggage storage. Double beds and panoramic windows are also planned.

A Challenging⁢ Enterprise

Several private rail companies have attempted to capitalize on the increasing demand for night train connections‌ in Europe. However, widespread success has remained elusive.

A Paris-based startup with a similar mission failed to⁢ secure sufficient investor backing in 2021. A Dutch company also recently delayed its plans after a loan rejection.

European Sleeper, another night rail enterprise, ‍has been⁢ operating trains linking Brussels, Amsterdam, ‌Berlin, and Prague since last year. Though, the company has faced challenges in expanding its connections.

Interest in revitalizing night train travel has⁢ grown in ‍recent years. Deutsche Bahn in Germany and SCNF in France are also making efforts to expand night services.

EU lawmakers are working to align⁢ standards across countries and reduce‌ hurdles for international rail operators.

What’s⁤ next

nox faces the challenge of securing funding and navigating regulatory hurdles to ⁢realize its enterprising ⁢vision for a European night train network. the company’s progress will be closely watched as it effectively works toward its 2027 launch date.
