Kami Rita Sherpa Breaks Everest Record Again
Kami Rita Sherpa, a seasoned Everest guide, has once again etched his name in mountaineering history. He successfully summited Mount Everest for an unprecedented 31st time, surpassing his own record for the most ascents of the world’s highest peak.
The 55-year-old Nepali guide reached the summit early Tuesday, leading a group of climbers, according to Seven Summits Treks in Kathmandu. his first prosperous climb was in 1994.
Before this record-breaking climb, Kami Rita told The Associated press that he might attempt a 32nd ascent, following two successful summits last year. Sherpa guides like Kami Rita are indispensable to foreign climbers seeking to reach the top of the 29,032-foot mountain.
Along with his everest feats, Kami Rita has also conquered other formidable peaks, including K2, Cho Oyu, Manaslu, adn Lhotse.
Pasang Dawa Sherpa, with 29 ascents, remains Kami Rita’s closest competitor for the Everest summit record.
April and May are the prime months for Everest climbs due to favorable weather conditions. edmund Hillary, a New Zealander, and Tenzing Norgay, a Nepali Sherpa, first conquered Everest in 1953.
