A former Miss Grand International 2021, Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien, has been arrested in Vietnam as part of a fraud investigation related to the dietary supplement Kera Supergreens Gummies, according to reports from multiple Indonesian news outlets.
Authorities allege that the gummies, marketed as a fiber-rich health snack, contained significantly less fiber than advertised and instead relied on laxatives to produce their effects. The product has been declared counterfeit after testing revealed substandard ingredients and misleading claims, including the assertion that each gummy was equivalent to a plate of vegetables and suitable for all ages.
The investigation revealed that over 135,000 units of Kera Supergreens Gummies were sold, generating more than $650,000 (approximately £533,000). Ms. Nguyen co-owned and marketed the product alongside social media influencers Pham Quang Linh and Hang Du Muc, as part of a joint venture with a company founded by the two influencers.
The fraud came to light after a customer sent the gummies for independent lab testing. Results showed only 16mg of fiber per gummy, far below the advertised 200mg. Further investigation uncovered the use of low-fiber ingredients and the failure to disclose the presence of high levels of sorbitol, an artificial sweetener commonly found in laxatives.
Prior to the arrest, Ms. Nguyen had deleted all promotional content related to the Kera Supergreens Gummies from her social media accounts. The Ho Chi Minh City food safety management authority conducted an official analysis of the product at the request of the Ministry of Health.
Ms. Nguyen, a prominent public figure in Vietnam who has previously received government recognition, is now facing legal consequences for her involvement in the alleged fraud. The case highlights the risks associated with health supplements and the importance of verifying product claims.
This incident follows recent scrutiny of beauty pageant titleholders and industry figures. In late November 2025, Raúl Rocha Cantú, the owner and president of Miss Universe, was charged with illegal trafficking of hydrocarbons, according to reports. A Thai beauty queen recently lost her title following the emergence of explicit footage, and a former Puteri Indonesia Riau finalist was arrested for allegedly practicing medicine without a license.
The Puteri Indonesia Riau organization has revoked the title of the former finalist involved in the illegal facelift case. The former finalist, Jeni Rahmadial Fitri, is accused of operating an illegal beauty clinic and performing procedures without proper medical qualifications.
