The charges relate to an incident on March 8, 2026, at the Huyton and Prescot Golf Club in Merseyside. Barton is jointly accused with 50-year-old Gary O’Grady of attacking Kevin Lynch, 51, at Fairway, Huyton.

Court details indicate that the defendants had been drinking with Lynch at the golf club before the alleged attack. Lynch was subsequently hospitalized after suffering serious injuries to his eye.
