Muhammad Fahrul, a 48-year-old former member of Indonesia’s Special Forces Command (Kopassus), sustained a head injury after a dispute over home renovations escalated into a machete attack in the Jakarta Garden City residential area of Cakung Timur, East Jakarta, on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
Dispute Over Home Renovation Noise
The confrontation began at approximately 2:30 p.m. local time on October 22, 2026. The wife of 57-year-old neighbor Jef Budiharto approached the foreman managing construction work at Fahrul’s property. The neighbor’s wife demanded that the renovation work stop immediately because she felt disturbed by the construction noise.
Fahrul instructed his building crew to continue working despite the protest. The situation quickly escalated when Jef Budiharto arrived at the site to confront the homeowner directly, sparking a heated verbal argument.
Machete Attack and Physical Retaliation
The verbal exchange turned physical when Jef threatened to attack Fahrul with a sharp weapon. Jef swung a golok at the former soldier, missing on the first attempt but striking the right side of Fahrul’s head on the second swing.

Despite sustaining a head injury, Fahrul fought back against his attacker.
Korban tidak terima, kemudian membanting pelaku ke lantai.
Kompol Andre Tri Putra, Cakung Police Chief
The former Kopassus member grabbed Jef and slammed him onto the floor.
Hospitalization and Police Investigation
Both men suffered injuries during the duel and were transported to separate medical facilities for treatment. Fahrul was admitted to Mayapada Hospital in Jakarta Garden City, while Jef received treatment at Pondok Kopi Islamic Hospital for injuries sustained when he was thrown to the ground.
Police currently classify Jef as a witness while detectives continue gathering evidence and examining the circumstances surrounding the clash.
