Ex-Sports Minister Macky Sall Behind Bars: Shocking Twist in High-Profile Custody Saga
Former Director General of LONASE in Police Custody for Alleged Corruption
In Senegal, the former director general of the National Lottery of Senegal (LONASE) has been in police custody since September 21, facing charges of “theft of public funds and money laundering”.
The allegations against the former CEO of LONASE have been made by Mouhamed Dieng, the head of 1Xbet Senegal, who claims that the former director general received 5 billion CFA francs in several installments.
According to Mouhamed Dieng, the former director general used the funds to acquire various assets, including a house in Grenoble. However, the former director general, Lat Diop, has categorically denied these allegations, describing them as “disclaimer”.
One of Lat Diop’s lawyers has expressed outrage at Mouhamed Dieng’s statement, questioning why the person who allegedly corrupted the former director general is not also facing charges.
The case has sparked widespread attention in Senegal, with many calling for greater transparency and accountability in the country’s institutions.
