A 53-year-old worker has died following a serious incident at an industrial site in Kazanlak, Bulgaria. the man, an excavator operator, succumbed to extensive burn injuries late thursday at the Burns Clinic of St. George Hospital in Plovdiv, despite the dedicated efforts of medical staff.The incident occured on Wednesday when the excavator ignited while transferring waste material.
According to eyewitness accounts, the operator was unable to evacuate the burning cabin in a timely manner. He was immediately transported to the Plovdiv clinic with burns covering over 50% of his body and was listed in critical condition until his passing.
This tragedy follows an initial report of the incident on August 20th, when the worker was first hospitalized after being injured in Kazanlak.
Inquiry Underway
The District Prosecutor’s Office in Stara Zagora has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Experts have been appointed to assess the scene, and witnesses are currently being questioned to determine the cause of the ignition and any potential safety lapses. The cause of death has been officially persistent as cardiovascular weakness resulting from the extensive burns.
