Exclusive First Look: Davorin Sekulić’s Gripping Drama ‘Family’ Hits the Big Screen in World Premiere
World Premiere of “The Family” Documentary Film
The Seventh AJB DOC Film Festival hosted the world premiere of “The Family,” a documentary film by Davorin Sekulić, followed by a discussion with the audience.
The documentary film “Family” by Davorin Sekulić is a personal and poignant portrayal of his family’s story, reflecting the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the war.
The film’s release has garnered significant public attention, with the first screening selling out days in advance and subsequent requests for more tickets.
Tatjana Sekulić, screenwriter and protagonist of the film, shared her emotional response to the premiere, stating that while she was proud of the documentary, she was also apprehensive about sharing their family’s intimate story with the world.
For the Sekulić family, watching the film was an emotional experience, as they saw the final product for the first time and relived difficult moments, including the death of their grandmother Fatima and the departure of their youngest brother from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Despite the challenges, Tatjana expressed her happiness about the film’s premiere at AJB DOC, acknowledging that their story is worth telling.
Davorin Sekulić, the director, chose not to watch the film during the first screening, instead observing the reactions and emotions of the audience, including his family members.
Sekulić is already working on a new documentary, which aims to showcase Srebrenica outside the context of July 11, highlighting the daily lives of its people and their struggles.
The film “Family” was produced by Klix.ba and co-produced by Al Jazeera Balkans, with a talented team including Tatjana Sekulić, Anesa Marić, Semir Hambo, and Adnan Zilić.
