Exclusive: Pioli Emerges as Top Contender to Replace Castro at Al-Nasr
Al-Nasr in Talks with Italian Coach Stefano Pioli to Replace Luis Castro
Al-Nasr club management has entered into negotiations with Italian coach Stefano Pioli to take over the technical leadership of the club’s football team, replacing Luis Castro.
According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Al-Nasr is in talks with Pioli, but no official agreement has been reached between the two sides. Pioli is reportedly the first candidate to take over as Al-Nasr’s coach if the club decides to fire Portuguese Luis Castro.
Al-Nasr’s recent results have been disappointing, with the team tying 3, losing one, and winning two in 6 matches in the 2024-2025 season. The team’s latest match against Al-Shorta of Iraq in the AFC Elite Champions League ended in a positive draw.
Luis Castro has commented on the rumors surrounding his imminent departure from Al-Nasr, stating, “I have been working in training for 28 years and have never been dismissed.”
Interestingly, Pioli was previously close to taking over the technical leadership of Al-Ittihad before the arrival of Frenchman Laurent Blanc. However, it seems that Pioli may now be in line to take over as Al-Nasr’s coach.
