Former Roma captain Francesco Totti has stressed that recent talks about the possibility of playing football again at the age of 48 are no joke.

The newspaper explained that the Como club’s offer to get the former Roma captain, who retired in 2017, onto the pitch has led him to seriously consider a return.

The Como club was promoted to the Italian Premier League for the first time in 22 years this season.

Como currently sits in 13th place in the Italian league standings after nine games.

He added: “We’ll see what happens. I’m mulling it over. My mind already knows the answer. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what my body will say.”

A few days ago, Totti made headlines when he revealed that several clubs in the Italian league had contacted him to come back from retirement.

Totti retired from his boyhood club Roma seven years ago and never played for another team during his career.

He also said, “I felt a little crazy and wondered why he wanted me after all this time.”

He concluded: “Nothing is impossible in life. Some players come back after years of retirement. I will be ready in two months.”

Totti began his career in 1993 and retired in 2017, but it looks like this may not be the end.

He has played 785 games for Roma in all competitions, scoring 307 goals and providing 207 assists.

Totti won the 2006 World Cup in Italy, won one Serie A title, lifted two Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups.
