macOS Sequoia: Features Not Available on Intel-Based Macs

macOS Sequoia has been officially released, and with it comes a range of exciting new features. However, not all Mac models are created equal, and some features are only available on Apple Silicon-based Macs.

Features Not Available on Intel-Based Macs

According to 9to5Mac, the following features are not available on Mac models with Intel processors:

  • Apple Intelligence
  • Real-time audio recording and transcription in the Notes app

Apple Intelligence, which is expected to be available in macOS Sequoia 15.1, will only be compatible with Mac models starting with the M1 processor.

New Features Available on Intel-Based Macs

On the other hand, some features are available on Mac models with Intel processors, including iPhone Mirroring.

Upgrading to a Mac Mini and Studio Display with M4

With no successor model to the 27-inch 5K iMac on the horizon, it may be time to consider upgrading to a Mac mini and M4-powered Studio Display. This is especially true if you don’t plan on using Apple Intelligence, as future support will only be available for Apple Silicon models.

Apple has been rumored to be developing a 27-inch 5K iMac model and a successor to the iMac Pro, but there are no signs of either appearing.
