Expanding Horizons: Tokyo International Law Office Sets Foot in Singapore
Tokyo International Law Office (“TKI”) has established TKI (Singapore) LLP as a foreign law practice in Singapore, with the aim of establishing the company by the end of January 2025. We are opening our Singapore office, our first overseas office.
The founding members include attorney Hiroki Yamada, co-representative of the firm, who has been engaged in cross-border legal affairs (M&A, disputes, fraud investigations, competition law, projects, startups, etc.) for many years, as well as international dispute resolution ( Earl Rivera Dolera, a foreign law attorney with extensive experience in matters such as arbitration, litigation, and mediation, and Kosuke Nakano, a former prosecutor who is engaged in fraud investigations, litigation, M&A/investment work, etc., will be appointed.
Since our establishment in April 2019, our firm has advocated being a “global firm originating from Japan” and has built an international team of lawyers in Tokyo that can provide legal services in major jurisdictions around the world. . As a result, in the approximately five and a half years since its establishment, the number of lawyers and foreign law attorneys has grown from five to approximately 40, providing legal services in Japan, as well as the United States, England and Wales, France, India, and China. In addition, we have a team of people with qualifications from the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand, and we have one of the widest international capabilities in Japan.
The opening of our Singapore office, our first overseas office, will be a major step forward in our path as a “Japanese global firm.” By having an office in Singapore, which is home to many of the Asian regional headquarters of international companies and is a hub for dispute resolution and investment in the Indo-Pacific region, we are able to offer our firm’s core corporate M&A services and international In addition to further developing our dispute resolution services, we will also respond to the inbound legal needs of international companies in Japan, which are managed by their Asian headquarters.
