Experience NYC’s Vintage Charm: MTA Holiday Nostalgia Rides 2023

Travel through time with MTA’s Holiday Nostalgia Rides in New York City. This event allows you to experience the 1930s on R1/9 train cars every Sunday from December 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The vintage trains will run on the F line and Q line. Riders will journey uptown on the F line from Houston Street and return downtown on the Q line from 96th Street. The trains feature rattan seats, paddle ceiling fans, incandescent lights, roll signs, and period advertisements.

The R1/9 cars are part of the Independent Subway System (IND), serving the subway since 1932 until their retirement in 1977. They are now part of the New York Transit Museum’s collection.
