Experience the Beat of Community Spirit: Mitoyo City’s Vibrant Holiday Club Activities Take Center Stage
Empowering Local Youth: Judo and Brass Band Demonstration Projects
On September 7th, the judo clubs of Takase Junior High School and Toyonaka Junior High School embarked on a demonstration project, marking a significant step in the city’s effort to transition holiday club activities to the local area.
The ”City After-School Reform” project aims to enrich and diversify after-school activities for children, and the Judo Club’s demonstration project is a key part of this initiative. With a total of 10 activities planned, this project seeks to provide young people with exciting opportunities for growth and development.
Under the guidance of two A-class instructors certified by the Japan Judo Federation, students participated in a comprehensive training session. The activity began with warm-up exercises, including forward and backward rolls, side rolls, handstands, and strengthening ground techniques. Following basic training in gripping and striking, students from Takase Junior High School and Toyonaka Junior High School were paired up to practice basic movements, such as throwing techniques, under the instructor’s supervision.
In addition to the judo demonstration project, the brass bands of six junior high schools in the city have been conducting demonstrations since August 3rd. A total of nine activities are planned, including practice for a concert in November, building on the success of last year’s events. At the activity on September 7th, approximately 10 instructors provided guidance on each instrument, and the students came together to practice in an ensemble under the conductor’s direction.
Mixpo, the City Cultural and Sports Promotion Foundation, remains committed to supporting the dreams of local children in the community. By providing a range of opportunities for young people to pursue their passions, Mixpo aims to empower children to challenge themselves and strive for excellence.
A new demonstration project is scheduled to begin in the soft tennis club from October, offering further opportunities for young people to engage in sports and activities that promote physical and mental well-being.
