About the Geminids
Unlike most meteor showers that originate from comets, the Geminids come from 3200 Phaethon, a five-kilometre-wide asteroid. It first appeared in the mid-1800s. Initially, it produced only 10 to 20 meteors per hour. Over time, its activity increased, making it one of the best annual meteor showers, according to NASA.
