Southeast, D.C. – A home in Southeast D.C. was rocked by an explosion Tuesday ⁤evening, sending one resident to the hospital for observation.

The blast‍ occurred around 8 p.m. at a‍ residence on ‍Kelbergen street, according to authorities.​ A neighbor, who lives several blocks away, reported seeing​ a large ⁢plume of smoke billowing from‌ the area. Multiple fire trucks and emergency responders rushed ‌to the scene.

“It was a pretty intense explosion,” the neighbor said.”you could see the smoke ​from quite a distance.”

A police spokesperson confirmed that one⁤ resident ⁢was home⁢ at the time⁤ of the explosion. Firefighters safely evacuated the individual, who was‍ transported ​to a local hospital for evaluation after inhaling smoke.

Authorities ⁣are actively searching for two suspects​ believed to be⁣ responsible for‌ the incident. They are described as males⁣ between the ages of 15 and 20, dressed entirely in⁣ black. The suspects were reportedly riding a fatbike together, with the passenger wearing a hood and having a ⁤dark complexion.The Metropolitan ‌Police Department has launched⁢ a ‌full investigation ⁢into the explosion and is⁣ urging anyone with ‌information to ‌come forward. Forensic⁤ investigators are currently on scene collecting evidence.
