Explosive Chaos: Belgian Soccer Star’s Shocking Injury After Fan’s Firecracker Prank Goes Wrong
Belgian Soccer Player Suffers Finger Amputation After Firecracker Explosion
A devastating incident occurred during a soccer match in Belgium, resulting in a player losing a finger due to a firecracker explosion. Fabio Schifano, a 26-year-old striker for the Flemish amateur soccer team ‘KSCT Menen’, was celebrating his team’s 4-0 victory against SK Zillebeke on the 19th when the accident happened.
According to eyewitnesses, Fabio was attempting to clear away a firework thrown by a spectator when it suddenly exploded in his hand, causing severe injuries. The firework, identified as a ’Cobra 6′ professional firework, is strictly prohibited for personal use.
Fabio, who had scored two goals in the match, was rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment. Unfortunately, his injuries were severe, resulting in the complete amputation of one finger and partial amputation of two others. He also suffered a firecracker fragment wound to his leg and underwent three surgeries within 48 hours.
In an interview with local media, Fabio explained that he had tried to remove the object to prevent any harm to his teammates or fans, especially children, in the stands. “I didn’t want anyone to get burned if a smoke bomb suddenly fell in the stands,” he said.
The spectator responsible for throwing the firework, a 21-year-old Belgian man, claimed he had no intention of hurting the player and was simply celebrating the team’s victory. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of using fireworks in public spaces and the importance of prioritizing safety and responsible behavior.
