Yang Dongning, Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of China, met with Indermit Gill, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank Group, in Beijing on July 21, 2026, to discuss strengthening cooperation and mutual development. According to the Export-Import Bank of China, the two officials exchanged views on strategies to enhance collaborative efforts between the two financial institutions.

The meeting focused on identifying areas where the policy bank and the international organization can align their developmental goals. Both parties discussed mechanisms for joint growth and the coordination of financial resources to support economic stability and infrastructure development.

The Export-Import Bank of China serves as the primary policy bank for China’s foreign trade and investment, while the World Bank Group provides loans and grants to the governments of low- and middle-income countries. This high-level dialogue between Yang and Gill occurs as both institutions manage shifting global economic pressures and the demand for sustainable financing in emerging markets.

According to the official report from the Export-Import Bank of China, the conversation centered on “strengthening cooperation and seeking common development.” The discussions aimed to bridge the operational strengths of the World Bank’s global economic research and the Export-Import Bank’s targeted financing capabilities.
