Bodyguard Receives $2.78 Million in Compensation After Discovering Hidden Camera in Bedroom
A former nanny has been awarded $2.78 million in compensation after discovering a hidden camera in her bedroom, which was secretly filming her for over three years.
Kelly Andrade, 25, was working as a live-in nanny for Michael Esposito, the owner of a famous fried chicken shop, and his family in Staten Island, New York. However, she began to suspect that something was amiss when she noticed that the smoke detector in her bedroom was being frequently moved.
One day, Andrade decided to investigate further and discovered a hidden camera inside the smoke detector. She immediately felt a sense of unease and fear, and her suspicions were confirmed when she found a memory card containing hundreds of videos of her naked and sleeping in her bedroom.
Andrade immediately reported the incident to the police, and Esposito was arrested and charged with secretly filming her. The jury ruled in favor of Andrade, awarding her $780,000 in compensation for mental anguish and $2 million in punitive damages.
Esposito was sentenced to a maximum of four years in prison but was released under the condition that he complete a probationary period and attend counseling for two years. Andrade expressed her disappointment with the sentence, stating that it was not enough for the trauma she had endured.

Andrade’s case highlights the importance of being aware of one’s surroundings and taking action when something seems suspicious. It also raises concerns about the prevalence of hidden cameras and the need for greater awareness and education on this issue.
