Exposed: The Liverpool Players Who Failed to Deliver – Coach Arne’s Scathing Verdict Revealed
Liverpool’s New Manager Slot: A Change in Playing Style?
Liverpool has appointed Dutch manager Slot to take over as the team’s manager, replacing Jurgen Klopp. Slot has emphasized the importance of playing with short passes to maintain possession.
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes that Trent Alexander-Arnold, the right-back of the England national team, may struggle to adapt to Slot’s playing style. Alexander-Arnold is known for his long balls, which may not align with Slot’s vision.
Scholes’ Concerns About Alexander-Arnold’s Playing Style
Scholes recalls a game where Liverpool won 3-0 at Old Trafford, with Alexander-Arnold being substituted in the 75th minute. Scholes thinks that Alexander-Arnold’s playing style may not be what Slot is looking for.
“I watched the game on Sunday. Every time he missed a pass, Slot shook his head. I was there too. He turned away and looked at the substitutes,” Scholes said.
“He tries to play long balls, which is something he does wonderfully. I think I’m not sure Slots will like it.”
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher shares Scholes’ opinion, stating that Slot prefers a playing style with shorter balls.
“I think that’s the way Slot wants to play. He doesn’t want too many long balls.”
Carragher also mentions Alexander-Arnold’s contract, which is set to expire next summer, and how it may affect the team’s dynamics.
“I think this situation is very interesting. When you’re a local player, moving teams is difficult.”
“I think the reaction from Liverpool fans to Trent is different to Salah and Van Dijk. It’s similar to Steven Gerrard and Steve McManaman.”
