Samsung has ⁣officially announced its⁤ Exynos 2500 chipset, a development that arrives later in 2025 than many anticipated. The declaration precedes next month’s rumored Unpacked event.

The Exynos 2500 marks Samsung’s‍ initial foray into 3nm GAA node technology, a notable⁣ advancement from the 4nm process used in the Exynos 2400. This⁣ transition is expected to yield substantial efficiency⁤ gains. ⁤samsung also touts fan-out⁤ wafer-level ‍packaging (FOWLP) for a slimmer⁣ design and improved heat management.

While not quite matching the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s raw power, the Exynos 2500 features a ‍1+7+2 CPU core‍ configuration, incorporating Arm’s Cortex-X925 (also known as⁣ Cortex-X5) clocked at 3.3GHz. The Cortex-A725 performance cores are divided into two groups: two cores at 2.74GHz and five at 2.36GHz. two Cortex-A520 efficiency cores operate at 1.8GHz. Samsung projects a 15% performance increase over the Exynos 2400 due to the Cortex-X5 core alone.

Samsung Exynos 2500 chipset specifications including CPU, GPU, NPU and camera⁢ support.

The 4th-generation Xclipse 950 GPU supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing and 4K video output at 120FPS. The neural‍ processing unit (NPU) is reportedly 39% faster for on-device AI tasks. Camera capabilities remain similar to the Exynos 2400, with ⁢320MP sensor support and 8K30 video recording.

The modem specifications are drawing attention. Samsung has released a list of specifications without ‍explicitly naming the modem. The Exynos⁤ 5400 modem, used in last year’s Pixel 9 series, closely matches these‍ specifications, albeit with slower FR1 and FR2 maximum download speeds.

What’s ⁢next

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is rumored to feature the Exynos‍ 2500 globally. An announcement could come within weeks.
