Electronic Arts (EA) plans a meaningful overhaul of it’s Formula 1 (F1) game franchise, with a complete reimagining slated for the 2027 release. This follows the success of F1 25, which IGN described as the strongest installment in the series as the popular F1 2020.
According to a statement released today, November 19, 2025, the 2027 game will be “reimagined into a more expansive experience with new ways to play for fans around the world.” This plan is part of a “multi-year strategic investment” in the F1 franchise by EA.

A History of F1 Gaming
Codemasters has a long history in Formula One gaming, beginning with F1 2009 for the Wii and PSP consoles. EA also previously developed F1 games in the early 2000s,starting with F1 2000 for the PlayStation 1 and PC. The current partnership represents a return to the sport for EA after a period where Codemasters held the exclusive license.
