Q3: Verstappen Sets Blazing Lap
Verstappen described the qualifying session as “great,” noting improvements to his car and accomplished adjustments throughout each attempt. Despite a minor scare at Turn 1 on his final lap, he expressed satisfaction with his performance and the team’s efforts. “It was a great qualification, we made the single -seater a little better, and during the qualification we managed to improve in every attempt. I had a small fright at curve 1 in my last lap and I wasted some time. Hear it is indeed very complicated to make the tires work well throughout the tour, but in the end it went well and I am very happy with the pole,” Verstappen said.
Norris, fresh off his sprint race victory, acknowledged a mistake at Turn 17 but remained positive about his car’s performance. “The Blocaggio in Curve 17? It is a shame when these things happen, I was unable to be perfect but the step was there, and The car gave me good sensations. I felt better this weekend than the last,” Norris said.
Kimi Antonelli, driving for Mercedes, qualified a surprising third, splitting the McLarens. Antonelli said, “I struggled a little during the qualifications, I didn’t have a clean ride like yesterday but the last was quite good. I exaggerated in curve 1 at the beginning of the lap, but the rest was good so I am more than happy. The margins are very narrow, if you can earn a few cents you can take many positions. It is really a matter of putting everything together and so far in this weekend I have succeeded. And I hope that tomorrow I will be able to make a good race”.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc struggled, qualifying eighth.
