F1’s Toughest Critics Weigh In: Do Tsunoda and Verstappen Think Ricciardo Has What It Takes to Stay in the Game
Verstappen and Tsunoda Share Thoughts on Ricciardo’s F1 Future
As the F1 Singapore Grand Prix approaches, rumors surrounding Daniel Ricciardo’s future in the sport continue to swirl. Red Bull teammates Max Verstappen and Hiroki Tsunoda have shared their thoughts on whether Ricciardo deserves to stay in F1 for the 2025 season.
Verstappen, who spent three years alongside Ricciardo at Red Bull from 2016 to 2018, expressed his admiration for the Australian driver. “Daniel is a good guy, and I think he has proven himself as an F1 driver. He’s a friend of mine,” Verstappen said.
When asked if Ricciardo deserves to stay in F1, Verstappen responded, “I don’t think it’s a good thing to be in this situation, but on the other hand, I don’t think he needs to feel sorry for himself.” He continued, “At some stages of his career, things might not go his way, but he has achieved a lot of things that everyone else would envy.”
Verstappen also hinted at Ricciardo’s potential future plans, saying, “For example, I think it would be nice to try another racing series, or just relax and have fun on the farm.” Ricciardo owns a farm in his home country, Australia.
Tsunoda shared a similar opinion, stating, “I have the same opinion as Max. I respect him a lot. We’ll see what happens. But I like him, and I think we’d all like to see him continue to race.”
Tsunoda emphasized that Ricciardo’s achievements in the sport are what matter most. “As Max said, he’s achieved a lot, so we’ll see what happens,” Tsunoda said.
