Corinthians Forward Facundo Torres Suffers ACL Injury
Corinthians forward Facundo Torres will undergo surgery after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during a Copa do Brasil match against Palmeiras on July 30, 2025, the club announced. The injury occurred in the 73rd minute of the match, which Palmeiras won 2-1.
The club’s medical department confirmed the diagnosis following examinations on July 31, 2025. Torres is expected to be sidelined for at least six months, potentially missing the remainder of the 2025 season and the start of the 2026 season.
Torres joined Corinthians in July 2024 from Peñarol of Uruguay for a reported transfer fee of $10 million. He has made 33 appearances for Corinthians across all competitions, scoring 6 goals.
Corinthians currently sits 16th in the Brazilian Série A table with 28 points after 23 matches. The team has won 7 games, drawn 7, and lost 9.

The injury to Torres is a notable blow to Corinthians’ attacking options. Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo will need to find a replacement for the Uruguayan international as the team continues its fight to avoid relegation.
According to a statement released by Corinthians, the surgery will be performed by Dr. joão Marcelo Furlan, a specialist in knee injuries. The club will provide further updates on Torres’ recovery progress as they become available.
