Bijan Robinson rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Atlanta Falcons to a 35-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night at Lambeau Field. The blowout loss ended Green Bay’s streak of winning home openers dating back to 2012.
Michael Penix Jr. Revives Atlanta’s Attack
The Atlanta offense was revitalized by the return of quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who completed 18 of 25 passes for 256 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. Penix was playing in his first game since tearing the ACL in his left knee on November 16. In the first two weeks of the season, the Falcons had struggled under substitute quarterback Cooper Rush and became the first team since the 2008 Rams to fail to run a single play inside an opponent’s 20-yard line. That scoring drought ended against Green Bay as Atlanta erased an early 7-0 deficit by rattling off 27 unanswered points.

Green Bay Struggles and Offensive Line Woes
Green Bay fell to 1-2 on the season, dropping a home opener for the first time since falling 30-22 to the San Francisco 49ers on 2012. The Packers had previously won 13 straight home openers from 2013 to 2025, sharing an NFL record with the Miami Dolphins. Quarterback Jordan Love finished 28 of 53 for 312 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, operating behind an offensive line missing left guard Aaron Banks due to a toe injury and right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele, who tore his patellar tendon Sunday and will miss the remainder of the season. Rookie fifth-round draft pick Jager Burton made his first career start at left guard, while Anthony Belton started at right tackle. Penalties also hampered the Packers, who committed an NFL-high 26 infractions through the first two weeks and added critical mistakes on Thursday, including a roughing the passer penalty that extended an Atlanta drive in the first quarter.
We’ve got a couple extra days here, and everybody’s got to take a long, hard look at themselves. We’ve got to find solutions and just come back ready to work.

Record-Setting Performances at Lambeau Field
London hauled in nine catches for 194 yards. The lopsided contest saw Atlanta outrush Green Bay 242 yards to 17 yards. Nick Folk added field goals of 44 and 31 yards for the Falcons, while Austin Hooper caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Penix just before halftime. For Green Bay, Christian Watson and Matthew Golden caught touchdown passes from Love, but the offense could not overcome early-game miscues and Atlanta’s ground game.
