Famed Mexican Opera Singer Esteban Baltazar Arrested for Sexual Abuse
Mexican opera singer Esteban Baltazar was arrested at the Mexico City International Airport. He faces accusations of sexual abuse from a former partner, according to the capital’s Attorney General’s Office, which announced the arrest on November 18.
The authorities identified him as Esteban “N.” They indicated that preventive detention was obtained due to his probable involvement in a rape that occurred in December 2023 in the Benito Juárez area of Mexico City. The arrest happened on Saturday, November 16.
Baltazar will stay in custody until his legal situation is clarified. Billboard Español has reached out to the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office to inquire whether he has legal representation but received no response.
Baltazar is 32 years old and hails from Jalisco. He claims to be the founder of 3TM Entertainment, a company focused on promoting opera. He has performed internationally, including notable appearances at Carnegie Hall and the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.
According to Mexico Opera Studio, Baltazar has participated in over 30 theater productions. He made his debut at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in 2019, portraying Haly in Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri. His roles also include Schaunard in La Bohème, Masetto in Don Giovanni, and others.
