El Salvador Bans Colombian Influencer Westcol Over Offensive Comments

The government of El Salvador has taken swift action against Colombian influencer Luis Villa, known as Westcol, after he made derogatory comments about Salvadoran women during his recent visit to the country. Westcol’s statement, in which he claimed that he had not seen “beautiful women” and described El Salvador as “the worst country” in that sense, sparked widespread outrage and a prompt response from the authorities.

The controversy began after Westcol made the inflammatory comments, stating that El Salvador “has been the worst country” and that he had not seen any beautiful women during his time in the Central American country. His words quickly went viral on social media, generating strong anger and a swift response from Yamil Bukele, the brother of President Nayib Bukele.

Westcol was initially invited to attend the Gamergy event in El Salvador as a guest of honor. However, under pressure from the public and the government, the event organizers revoked the invitation at the request of Yamil Bukele, who is also the president of the National Sports Organization of El Salvador. The Gamergy event is one of the most important events in the field of video games and digital entertainment in El Salvador.

Yamil Bukele took to social media to express his strong disapproval of Westcol’s comments, stating that such attitudes that humiliate the local population cannot be allowed to be normalized. He also revealed that he had spoken with the company that produced Gamergy and had requested that the invitation be revoked.

“I consider it unwise that the young man in question believed that everything was a game and, even worse, that it was just about winning one more fight,” Bukele said. “I regret the inconvenience this may have caused.”
