Diabetes in the Whole Family: A Doctor’s Warning on Unhealthy Eating Habits

A Taiwanese doctor specializing in family medicine and weight loss has revealed a case of diabetes affecting an entire family.

According to Dr. Yang Ziwen, many people believe they are eating healthy food, but their lack of variety in their diet can lead to an unbalanced nutritional status, ultimately affecting their health. Dr. Yang emphasizes that unhealthy eating habits can cause diabetes.

A Family’s Alarming Case of Diabetes

Dr. Yang shared a case on her Facebook page about a family where every member was diagnosed with diabetes, resulting in a 100 percent morbidity rate.

Upon investigating their daily eating habits, it was discovered that they consumed fried rice and fried noodles for all three meals, often accompanied by chili sauce and soy sauce.

The Dangers of Excessive Sugar Consumption

The family’s excessive consumption of chili sauce, which contained high amounts of sugar, led to a significant increase in their blood sugar levels. Each meal contained the equivalent of 10 servings of sugar, causing their blood sugar levels to rise as high as 400-500 mg/dl.

This excessive sugar intake also led to rapid hunger and continuously high blood sugar levels.

The Risks of Sodium Overconsumption

The high sodium content in the sauces consumed by the family increased their risk of dehydration, which can lead to hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia. These are serious complications of diabetes that require immediate attention.
