Family Vows to Fight Decision in Fatal Donegal Crash
Buncrana, Ireland – The family of Rebecca Browne, the 21-year-old woman who tragically died after being struck by a police car in Donegal, Ireland, is vowing to challenge the decision not to prosecute any officers in connection with her death.
Browne, from Derry, Northern Ireland, was killed on May 21, 2023, in Ludden, near Buncrana, while on a night out with a relative. The incident,which occurred in the early hours,was immediately referred to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC),Ireland’s autonomous police watchdog.

Conor Moylan, a solicitor representing the Browne family from Madden and Finucane Solicitors, confirmed that GSOC informed them the Director of Public Prosecutions had decided against bringing any charges.
“The Browne family is devastated by this decision,” Moylan stated. “They feel deeply let down by the Irish State.”
Moylan revealed that he has formally requested the full rationale behind the decision, including all supporting documentation, expert opinions, and consultation notes.
“Our intention is to challenge this decision through a judicial review,” Moylan declared, signaling the family’s determination to seek justice for Rebecca.
