St. Francis University Becomes a University of Applied Sciences

St.‌ Francis University has been approved by the Education Bureau and officially became a university ‌of⁢ applied sciences as⁢ of November 1. The authorities will‌ provide a series of financial and​ supporting facilities, including an allocation of NT$100 million as‌ start-up⁣ capital to establish the “University of Applied ⁣Sciences Alliance” to support relevant institutions in joint promotions with the industry and stakeholders.

The University of Applied Sciences Alliance aims to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with other universities of applied sciences in applied research, innovation, and knowledge ⁣transfer. Fangda ⁣Acting President Lu Tierong expressed his intention to apply for formal membership in the alliance to promote vocational education in Hong Kong and improve social acceptability.

Tudor University will work with the ​alliance to promote the development of universities of applied sciences, including exploring more cooperation with the industry, and strengthening⁣ exchanges between local, ⁢mainland and overseas institutions in vocational and professional education. The goal is to promote Hong Kong to become an international post-secondary education hub.

The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong ⁤Kong is⁣ moving‍ towards upgrading to‌ a “University of Applied Sciences” and has ​been invited to join the “Universities⁤ of Applied Sciences Alliance” as an affiliate member. It hopes to complete the subject scope ⁤review​ in 2026 and cooperate with different stakeholders to enhance the status of vocational and professional education and achieve ⁣the goal of becoming ​the best in the industry.
