Diesel, a mainstay since the original 2001 film, shared that the final installment will return to its roots, taking place in Los Angeles. More significantly, the film plans to reunite Toretto with Brian O’Conner, the character portrayed by the late Paul Walker.
Walker, who starred alongside Diesel in the inaugural film, appeared in five sequels before his death in a car accident in November 2013. He was 40.
Diesel had previously used social media to advocate for Worldwide Pictures to set a release date for the sequel to ‘Fast X.’ That film grossed over $700 million worldwide. The upcoming movie is being promoted as the definitive end to the main storyline.
Earlier this year, Diesel emphasized the importance of filming in Los Angeles, particularly after the devastating wildfires. He stated that bringing the production back to where it began 25 years ago was crucial.
April 2027 currently has no other major film releases scheduled. The most successful film in the franchise, ‘Furious 7’ (2015), also debuted in April, earning $147.2 million during its opening weekend and ultimately grossing over $1.5 billion globally.
