Fast & Furious: New Hollywood Ride Features Iconic Cars & 360° Drifts

Fast & Furious: New Hollywood Ride Features Iconic Cars & 360° Drifts

March 8, 2026 Marcus Rodriguez - Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Universal Studios Hollywood is gearing up to launch its first-ever high-speed outdoor roller coaster, “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift,” in the summer of 2026. The attraction, inspired by the blockbuster Fast & Furious film franchise, will immerse riders in the world of high-octane street racing, offering a unique and thrilling experience unlike anything currently available at Universal Destinations & Experiences parks.

A Fleet of Iconic Cars

The park has revealed the four distinct ride vehicles that will comprise the coaster’s trains, each modeled after iconic cars from the Fast & Furious films. Alongside the previously announced Dodge Charger, guests will have the opportunity to “drive” a Mazda RX-7, a Nissan Skyline GT-R, and a Toyota Supra. These aren’t simply cosmetic reproductions; each vehicle is designed to evoke the spirit and style of its on-screen counterpart.

The Dodge Charger, a staple of the franchise and synonymous with Dominic Toretto, will be a prominent feature. The Mazda RX-7, driven by Han Seoul-oh, boasts racing wheels and a customized interior. The Nissan Skyline GT-R, famously piloted by Brian O’Conner, showcases extensive performance modifications and a distinctive blue color scheme. And completing the lineup is a recreation of O’Conner’s iconic orange Toyota Supra from 1994, complete with the legendary 2JZ-GTE engine.

Immersive Theming and Artistic Detail

The experience begins before riders even board the coaster. The queue area will be themed as an urban garage, and will feature a new mural created by American artist Tristan Eaton. The mural depicts a scene reminiscent of the first Fast & Furious film, showcasing a Dodge Charger and Toyota Supra racing against a train. It’s a visual homage to the franchise’s roots and a nod to Dominic Toretto.

Groundbreaking Ride Technology

“Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s also pushing the boundaries of roller coaster technology. The ride will feature a groundbreaking 360-degree rotational ride system, allowing the individual vehicles to spin freely as they navigate the 4,100-foot track. This innovative design is intended to simulate the feeling of drifting, a signature maneuver in the Fast & Furious films.

The coaster will reach speeds of 72 mph, making it the fastest in the Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio. The track is being constructed with sound reduction technology to enhance the experience, and winds its way over sections of the park, including the Starway escalator connecting the Upper and Lower Lots.

Part of a Larger Expansion

This new attraction is part of Universal Studios Hollywood’s ongoing commitment to immersive experiences. The park already boasts popular areas like Super Nintendo World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, alongside rides like Jurassic World—The Ride, The Simpsons Ride, and Transformers: The Ride‑3D. “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” aims to build on that success, offering a new level of excitement for fans of the franchise and thrill-seekers alike.

A Franchise Still in High Gear

The Fast & Furious franchise, produced by Universal Pictures, has become a global phenomenon, grossing over $7 billion at the worldwide box office across eleven films. As the series approaches its 25th anniversary in 2026, Universal is continuing to invest in the brand, with a new installment, “Fast Forever,” already slated for release on March 17, 2028.

The development of “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” underscores the enduring appeal of the franchise and Universal’s strategy of translating popular intellectual property into compelling theme park attractions. The combination of iconic vehicles, innovative technology, and immersive theming positions the coaster as a major draw for Universal Studios Hollywood and a testament to the power of the Fast & Furious brand.
