Fatal Fare: Laguna Driver Stabbed to Death in Badda
A lagoon driver named Hasan Howladar (22) was killed by an extortionist in the Badda police station area of the capital. One other person named Noore Alam (23) was injured in this incident.
On Tuesday (October 29) at around 10:30 pm, they were rescued and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The doctor on duty declared Hasan dead after examination. His body has been kept in the college morgue for post-mortem.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Badda police station of DMP. Saiful Islam confirmed this information. He said, I heard the incident. However, I have not yet received the details. An officer has been dispatched to this incident. From what I heard, there was some dispute between the lagoon driver and the attendants. The incident happened between them. More details will be known after investigating the matter.
Injured Nur Alam said, Hasan and I are both lagoon drivers. Hasaner himself owns Laguna. We transport mom tech passengers from Rampura-Bansree to Khilgaon. For several days, some people including Eamon had been going to Laguna’s stall and extorting money. Tonight some people including Eamon went to Laguna stall near Rampura Bridge and tried to collect donations at Banasree entrance, we stopped them.
At this time they began to stab Hasan. When I went forward, they also stabbed me and ran away. Later, when Hasan was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, the doctor declared him dead.
The deceased Hasan is the son of Alamgir Howladar of Matibhanga village in Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur. He lived with his family in Rampura area of Kunjban.
