Emergency services responded to a 911 call received at approximately 4:10 AM on September 21,2024,after a witness reported seeing flames.
Firefighters from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and surrounding municipalities worked for several hours to contain the blaze. Rescues were conducted using scales to evacuate residents from windows.

As a safety precaution, electricity was cut to the area, affecting 25 addresses. Authorities are advising road users to avoid the area bounded by Rue Champlain, Rue Foch, Rue Notre-Dame, and Rue saint-Louis.
