Fatima Mahrous Wins Silver in Weightlifting at Paris 2024 Paralympics
Fatima Mahrous has secured the silver medal in the 67 kg weightlifting event at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Paris, which will conclude on September 8.
Mahrous achieved this impressive feat by lifting a total of 139 kg, placing her second in the final standings, just one kilogram behind the Chinese athlete who lifted 140 kg.
The Egyptian champion demonstrated her strength and determination by successfully lifting 130 kg in the first attempt, followed by 134 kg in the second attempt, and finally 139 kg in the third attempt.
Egypt’s Fourth Medal at the Paralympic Games
Fatma Mahrous’ silver medal marks Egypt’s fourth medal at the Paralympic Games, following Mohamed El-Minawy’s gold medal in weightlifting at 59 kg, Rihab Radwan’s gold medal at 55 kg, and the volleyball team’s bronze medal win against Germany.
Egypt is participating in the tournament with a delegation of 54 male and female athletes, representing 10 sports, including Paralympic Weightlifting, Paralympic Athletics, Sitting Volleyball, Goalball, Paralympic Swimming, Paralympic Table Tennis, Paratykwando, Boccia, and Paralympic Powerlifting.
