Award-winning cabaret artist and vocalist Fatt Butcher will launch a new immersive music tour titled Congregational from August 2026 through July 2027. Co-created with Nicky Harris and Tobre, the production transforms theaters, music venues, and festivals into temporary nightclubs through live choral performance, DJ sets, and visual elements.
The touring project responds directly to the ongoing closure of queer nightlife venues across the country. Following a work-in-progress presentation at the Fierce Festival, the Birmingham-born artist developed the production as an avant-garde musical structured around ritual, song, and participatory collective experience.
Fatt Butcher Builds Congregational Tour Schedule
The production features a newly composed collection of dancefloor hymns that blend house, trance, gospel, classical, and experimental music. Audiences are invited to sing, dance, and join a live choir to mourn the loss of dedicated community spaces while celebrating their enduring cultural impact.

"Nightclubs have saved countless queer lives," Fatt Butcher stated. "They were a place to express grief, a place of celebration, a place to strip back and be yourself. Congregational is an invitation to celebrate that space and ask what happens when the venues vanish."
Each 75-minute performance concludes with a live DJ afterparty, allowing audiences to continue dancing. The tour carries an age recommendation of 18 and over due to strong language and references to sex and drug use.
