2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Opens in Beijing
The 2024 edition of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) is set to take place in Beijing from September 4 to 6, marking a significant moment in strengthening strategic relations between China and Africa.
Togo’s President, Faure Gnassingbé, has arrived in China to attend the meeting, which aims to promote modernization and build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.
FOCAC: A Mechanism for Joint Dialogue and Cooperation
Established in 2000, FOCAC is a platform for China and Africa to discuss key areas of cooperation, plan joint projects, and promote mutual development. The forum has made significant contributions to China-Africa cooperation since its inception.
African Heads of State and Government to Attend
Several African heads of state and government, as well as representatives of African regional and international organizations, have been invited to attend the forum. The event will provide an opportunity for China and Africa to renew their mutual friendship and discuss cooperation.
Summit Activities and High-Level Meetings
The summit will feature a welcome feast, a gala show, high-level meetings, the China-Africa entrepreneurs’ conference, and bilateral meetings. Prior to the opening of the 4th edition of FOCAC, meetings of high-level officials and ministers will be held on September 2 and 3 to prepare for the summit.
Togo and China: Converging Views on Global Issues
Togo and China share common views on major global issues, including the maintenance of peace and security, trade, and socio-economic infrastructure development. The two countries are expected to discuss prospects for a global strategic partnership during the forum.
