‘FBC: Firebreak’⁤ Brings Squad Combat to Haunted Offices

Updated June 17, 2025

Remedy Entertainment’s latest title, ‍FBC: Firebreak, is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Priced at $40, this co-op shooter plunges players into the Federal Bureau of ⁣Control⁢ (FBC) universe, tasking them with cleaning ⁣up the otherworldly mess within their haunted office building.

As Remedy’s first foray ⁣into multiplayer gaming, FBC: Firebreak emphasizes team-based combat. ‍Success hinges on cooperation as players coordinate⁤ their unique kits‍ and weapons to fend off hordes of enemies. According to Remedy, the game deliberately streamlines the experience, prioritizing quick entry into matches and active collaboration.

set six years after the events of Control, FBC: Firebreak casts players as FBC grunts and field rangers, mopping up after the Hiss invasion. While Director Jesse Faden ⁢is occupied elsewhere, it’s up to the ⁣players to secure the Oldest ⁣House.

Mike Kayatta, the game’s director, said that FBC: Firebreak is designed as a stand-alone experience ⁣and does not contain essential story content needed for Control⁢ 2.

The game features three distinct kits, each offering unique playstyles, alongside six weapons and three grenade types. At launch, five missions, or “Jobs,”⁤ are available, with Remedy planning to add two more by the end of 2025.

While FBC: Firebreak may lack the procedural generation and randomized ⁤events found in similar co-op titles, it compensates with‍ its unique tone and gameplay.Players experience the mundane-turned-unusual as they tackle supernatural threats with cobbled-together tools and scavenged weaponry.

Notably,⁢ FBC: Firebreak offers full cross-play compatibility.

Kayatta said that the game is designed to organically produce emergent and unplanned moments for players.

One mission, “Hot Fix,” sends players into the depths of a‍ sentient furnace to collect pacifying goo. Teams must coordinate to fill barrels, fend off enemies, and feed the furnace,⁤ culminating in a⁣ climactic ⁤battle and a desperate escape.

What’s next

Remedy plans to support FBC: firebreak with at least a year of free content, including new missions, enemies, and equipment. Cosmetic items will also be available for purchase.
