FBI Searches Home of former National Security Advisor John Bolton
Bethesda,MD – The FBI conducted a search of the home of former National Security Advisor John Bolton on Friday,August 22,2025,as part of an examination into the handling of classified details. The search extended too Bolton’s Maryland home and Washington office.
The FBI confirmed the ”court-approved activity” in a statement, but offered no further details. Bolton was not present at his Bethesda residence during the search.
The investigation, according to sources, was initiated by FBI Director Kash Patel,a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump. Patel posted on X (formerly Twitter) during the search, stating, “No one is above the law.” Notably, Patel had previously included Bolton on a list of alleged members of the “deep state” in a 2023 book.
Former President Trump, when asked about the search, claimed to have limited information but used the opportunity to criticize Bolton, labeling him an “offender” and “a guy with few lights,” adding, “It can be very unpatriotic. We will see.”
Bolton, a frequent commentator on television news programs and a former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations under President George W. Bush (2001-2009), served as Trump’s National Security Advisor for 17 months. His tenure was often marked by disagreements with the former president on key geopolitical issues, including north Korea, Afghanistan, and iraq.
Bolton’s 2020 memoir, The Room Were It Happened, detailed his time in the White House and has been a source of contention. The search comes as scrutiny intensifies regarding the handling of classified documents by former high-ranking officials.
