FC Goa Re-Signs Goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani for ISL Season
FC Goa has secured the return of experienced goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani on a one-year contract ahead of the Indian Super League (ISL) season. The club aims to leverage Kattimani’s extensive experience while fostering the growth of younger talents like Arshdeep Singh and Lara Sharma.
Kattimani, a Goa native, began his professional career with Vasco SC before joining Dempo SC, where he clinched two I-League titles.He initially played for FC Goa in the inaugural ISL season, contributing to their league-topping performance and ISL Cup final appearance in 2015.
After stints with Mumbai FC and a return to Dempo SC, Kattimani spent five years with Hyderabad FC. A highlight of his time with the Nizams was their ISL Cup victory in the 2021-22 season, where he made crucial saves in the final against FC goa.
The 35-year-old goalkeeper boasts over 175 club appearances and 55 clean sheets. He also represented India at the youth level,including the U23 team that won the SAFF Championship in 2009.
