FC Winterthur’s loanee forward Andrin Hunziker continues to play a role in the club’s battle against relegation from the Swiss Super League, despite the team’s precarious position in the standings.

According to recent match reports, Hunziker has featured prominently for Winterthur during the 2025/26 season, contributing goals and appearances while on loan from FC Basel. His performances have been noted as a positive individual aspect amid the club’s broader struggles to avoid demotion to the Challenge League.

Hunziker, born on 21 February 2003 in Basel, stands at 1.92 meters and plays as a centre-forward. He joined Winterthur on loan on 30 July 2025, with the arrangement set to last until 30 June 2026. His contract with parent club Basel runs until 30 June 2027.

During the 2025/26 season, Hunziker has made 17 appearances for Winterthur in all competitions, scoring six goals. His market value is currently estimated at €400,000.

Prior to his move to Winterthur, Hunziker gained experience through loan spells at Aarau (2022–2023) and Karlsruher SC (2024–2025), where he accumulated 28 and 16 appearances respectively, scoring eight and two goals. He also played for Basel’s U21 team and made limited first-team appearances for the club between 2021 and 2024.

Internationally, Hunziker has represented Switzerland at youth levels, including the U16, U17, and U20 teams, earning a total of 13 caps and scoring three goals across those categories.

Winterthur’s current situation in the league table has placed them near the bottom of the Super League, increasing the risk of relegation. However, reports indicate that individual performances such as Hunziker’s are not seen as contributing factors to the team’s difficulties.

The club continues to fight for survival in the top flight, with upcoming matches critical to their hopes of avoiding the drop. Hunziker remains available for selection as the season progresses toward its conclusion.
