The FDA has recalled a brand of gluten-free tortilla strips due to possible gluten contamination. The Fresh Gourmet brand’s Santa Fe style tortilla strips were affected. The manufacturer, Sugar Foods, received a report on November 19 that some bags mistakenly contained Crispy Onions instead of the expected tortilla strips.

The Crispy Onions contain wheat, which means they have gluten. However, the tortilla strips are marketed as gluten-free. The packaging for the tortilla strips did not mention wheat as an allergen, which led to the recall.

The recalled product is:

These bags were distributed between September 30 and November 11 to 22 states, including Ohio and Indiana.

Customers who bought this product should return it for a refund or discard it. The FDA warns that gluten-intolerant individuals or those with a wheat allergy could face serious health risks if they consume the affected product. Please stay safe and check your pantry for the recall.
