The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has suspended 14 business licenses linked to major quick-commerce operators including Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart. According to regulatory filings, the enforcement action targets specific dark stores and storage facilities operated by these rapid delivery platforms across the state for alleged non-compliance with safety and licensing standards.

State regulators moved against the quick-commerce sector following targeted inspections of warehousing and sorting hubs. According to the FDA, five of the suspended licenses belonged to Blinkit establishments, while another five were issued to Zepto. Two licenses held by Instamart operations were also suspended alongside individual actions targeting Bhagwati Stores and Swinsta Ent Pvt Ltd.

Scope of Regulatory Action Across Quick-Commerce Networks

The crackdown highlights mounting regulatory scrutiny over the rapid expansion of quick-commerce infrastructure in metropolitan hubs. As delivery platforms scale up their dark store networks to fulfill orders within minutes, state food and safety authorities are increasing oversight of storage hygiene, packaging standards, and proper licensing under food safety laws.

Industry players caught in the sweep face operational halts at the affected fulfillment sites until they clear regulatory hurdles. The FDA has not yet specified a timeline for re-inspection or license reinstatement for the 14 targeted facilities, leaving companies to address compliance gaps before resuming dispatch operations from those locations.
