Jakarta – A lawyer has denied allegations that an honorarium received from former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) for handling corruption cases within the ministry of Agriculture between 2020 and 2023 was derived from corrupt funds.
The lawyer, Febri Diansyah, stated that during the trial of a corruption case within the Ministry of Agriculture, SYL affirmed that the honorarium originated from personal and family funds.
Diansyah,speaking at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) on Friday,said,This is clear. In the trial process, my other client (former Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture) kasdi Subagyono and former Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machine Ministry of Muhammad Hatta) also said the same thing.
He explained that his firm provided assistance to SYL, Kasdi, and Hatta during the examination phases of the Ministry of Agriculture’s corruption case.
According to Diansyah,during the investigation phase,the honorarium paid to his firm represented the third contribution of convicts and came from private funds.
He further stated that during the investigation stage, the honorarium came from the SYL family after SYL had left his position as Minister of Agriculture.
So, not from the Ministry of Agriculture’s funds,
Diansyah said, adding that even the former Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, who at that time was a defendant, had revealed that from the beginning I refused to be given an honorarium from the APBN or Ministry of Agriculture because it was a private case.
Diansyah acknowledged the search conducted by investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at his law office.
Though, indeed as December 2024, I have not worked in the vision of the Law Office,
he added.
