Federico Sturzenegger Slams Cristina Kirchner’s Hypocrisy on Drug Regulation
Title: Federico Sturzenegger Critiques Cristina Kirchner’s Stance on Medication Deregulation
Cristina Kirchner recently challenged Javier Milei to deregulate medication prices. This statement sparked reactions within the government. Federico Sturzenegger, the Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, responded with harsh criticism and a touch of irony. He expressed his satisfaction that Kirchner recognizes the need for deregulation, even if it comes late.
Sturzenegger reminded Kirchner that she did not pursue deregulation during her eight years as president or her four years as president of the Senate. He highlighted the current government’s actions, which include requiring generic prescriptions, changing laws to prevent doctors from prescribing by brand, implementing electronic prescriptions, and removing restrictions on over-the-counter sales.
He suggested that Kirchner consult her former economy minister, Axel Kicillof, to explore purchasing medications abroad, taking advantage of the new deregulation measures. Sturzenegger pointed out that during her administration, she failed to implement these necessary changes.
He further stated that her party attempted to repeal an important decree (DNU 70/23) that introduced these deregulations. He criticized her for allowing medication prices to rise significantly during her tenure, while also making deals with insurance companies to freeze prices for electoral reasons.
Sturzenegger concluded his message by expressing skepticism about Kirchner’s newfound support for deregulation. He claimed that if given another chance, her government would misuse the state to benefit elite groups, leaving many Argentinians in poverty, similar to past actions.
