Feijóo Under Fire: Ambassador Ramón Santos Knew About Edmundo González’s Coercion, Leader Admits
Spanish Ambassador in Venezuela Accused of Coercion
Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of the Popular Party, has accused the Spanish ambassador in Venezuela, Ramón Santos, of being aware of Edmundo González’s coercion within the Embassy and “lending himself to carry out an act of coercion.”
Feijóo expressed his concerns in a radio interview, stating that the Spanish ambassador is aware of the legitimate winner of the elections being forced and is complicit in the act of coercion. He emphasized that this is unacceptable in a democratic country like Spain.
Feijóo criticized the Spanish Government for not recognizing Edmundo González as the legitimate president of Venezuela. He also pointed out that Spain has mediated between the Maduro regime and the Venezuelan opposition to facilitate the departure of the opposition leader from the country.
Feijóo highlighted that countries like Chile and Mexico have recognized the opposition candidate as the winner of the elections, who was granted asylum in Spain.
He added that Maduro lacks evidence to prove his victory, and as a result, is persecuting the opposition, forcing them to seek refuge in embassies or remain in hiding.
Feijóo emphasized that if the Spanish Government supports Maduro, it is not supporting the democrats in Venezuela. He stated that he is proud to lead the recognition of the democratic results of Venezuela, even if it means going against his own government.
