Argentina head coach Felipe Contepomi has named a 33-man roster, as reported by Americas Rugby News. The changes bring back the team’s full contingent ahead of the upcoming Nations Championship end-of-year tour.
Full Roster Assembly and London Training Camp Dates
The 33-man squad will assemble in London, England, for a three-day training camp running from Monday (October 26) to Wednesday (October 28). This camp serves as preparation for the Nations Championship, which will conclude international competition for 2026. Contepomi will confirm his roster for the November Internationals at the completion of the camp.
Key Recalls and Squad Transformations
The group represents a different roster to that which faced the Springboks and Wallabies, during which 20 players were missing. Regular captain Julián Montoya returns to lead the side; he featured for Argentina in the July Internationals but was not involved in the three test matches against South Africa and Australia. For the first time this year, props Thomas Gallo and Joel Sclavi have been included, alongside second-rower Pedro Rubiolo, flanker Juan Martín González, center Santiago Chocobares and fullback Juan Cruz Mallía. Additionally, the lineup gains strength through the comebacks of enforcer Marcos Kremer, fellow flanker Santiago Grondona, scrum-half Gonzalo García, fly-half Tomás Albornoz, center Justo Piccardo, and wingers Mateo Carreras and Bautista Delguy.
Injuries and Notable Omissions
Two regular forwards miss out through injury: hooker Ignacio Ruiz and No. 8 Joaquín Oviedo. Both are key members expected to secure places in the squad for the Rugby World Cup 2027. Under Contepomi, the team has broadened its selection pool, utilizing a higher number of athletes across every position than during the eras of Michael Cheika or Mario Ledesma. Among the notable forwards absent are hooker Bautista Bernasconi, tight head prop Pedro Delgado, and second-rowers Matías Alemanno and Franco Molina. Benjamín Grondona is also left out despite a standout showing against South Africa, alongside center Matías Moroni, who boasts 99 international caps. Facundo Bosch, Santiago Medrano, Facundo Isa, Rodrigo Bruni, and Francisco Gorrissen are all examples of former Pumas not included.
November Internationals and End-of-Year Fixtures
Following the London preparatory camp, Los Pumas will embark on an end-of-year tour. The November fixtures open on Nov 06, 2026, against Ireland at Lansdowne Road in Dublin, IE. Argentina then faces Italy on Nov 14 2026 at Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa before meeting France on NOV 21, 2026 at the Stade de France in Paris. The tour concludes in London between Nov 27/28/29, 2026, against an opponent to be confirmed.
